Day 1:
Departure Flight.
Day 2: Paris
Arrive at Paris airport and be welcomed by your Teach By Travel tour manager. Transfer to your hotel for check-in, and an arrival briefing by your tour manager. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Day 3: Paris
The French capital awaits you this morning on your guided city sightseeing tour. See the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Champs-Elysées, Arc de Triomph, the Latin Quarter, and more, ending with an inside visit to the Louvre. Free afternoon to explore Paris on your own. Visit the Jardins des Tuileries, the Place de la Concorde, the Grands Magasins, or perhaps the Orsay Museum, with its extraordinary Impressionist collection. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Day 4: Paris - Versailles
This morning, journey outside of Paris to Versailles, the palace of the Sun King, Louis XIV. Your inside visit highlights the opulant Hall of Mirrors, the Royal Apartments, the Chapel, and more. Time to see Marie Antoinette's Hamlet, and the magnificent Trianon Gardens before returning to Paris. Leisure time this afternoon - you may want to stroll the cobble-stoned streets of the Left Bank, shop around the Place de la Bastille, or visit Montmartre and Sacre Coeur. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Day 5: Chartres - Loire Valley
Depart Paris and stop in Chartres to see the Cathedral, and its famous stained glass. On to the Loire Valley to see grand castles of the Renaissance. Visit Chenonceau, and Clos Luce, where Leonardo da Vinci lived along the Loire Valley under the wing of Francois I. The explosion of art during the Renaissance is showcased at its best in the beautiful province of the Loire. Continue on to see the castles of Amboise and St. Luis in Angers before dinner and overnight in the Loire Valley.
Day 6: Concarneau
Board your coach and journey to Bretagne, with a stop along the way in Golfe du Morbihan for a lunch cruise. Continue on to Carnac to see the Field of Megaliths, dating from the Neolithic Ages. Ocean scenery as we travel along the Atlantic Ocean coast to the port town of Concarneau for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: St. Malo
Morning walking tour of the walled town of Concarneau before departing for Benodet, a resort with typical Brittany houses languishing in the shade of old pine trees. Stop at the Lighthouse of Eckmuhl, and continue on to the Pointe du Raz, the most western spot of Continental Europe. See the wild cliffs overlooking the entrance to the English Channel. Next stop is Locronan, a small stone village that seems to come right out of a fairy-tale. Drive along the north coast of Brittany to Dinan, which is protected by ramparts. Final stop for dinner and overnight is St. Malo.
Day 8: Mont St. Michel - D-Day Beaches - Deauville
Drive along the blue water of the Pointe du Groun before arriving at the Middle-Age island-abbey of Mont St. Michel. Stop to see the Bayeux Tapestry, a 1,000 year- old piece of art sewed by Queen Mathild, and telling the story of William the Conqueror. Continue to the D-Day Beaches where more than one million soldiers landed on June 6, 1944, to free Europe and end WWII. View the poignant Colleville American Cemetery with its sea of white crosses. Transfer to the seaside resort of Deauville, site of the trendy Film Festival. Dinner and overnight in Deauville.
Day 9: Paris
Enjoy a unique treat today - a cooking course with a French chef! After you taste your creations, continue to Monet's home of Giverny and see the gardens that inspired several of Monet's paintings. Afternoon arrival in Paris. Free time for last-minute souvenir shopping before your Special Farewell Dinner at the Restaurant 58 Tour Eiffel followed by a Seine River Cruise. Unforgettable views of "Ville des Lumieres" tonight.
Day 10:
Return flight.
