The Tower sits at one end of the huge wall that the Romans built around London (England was part of the Roman Empire, until approximately 410 A.D.), and some sections can still be seen today! Your tour manager will take you back in history as you walk the trail of the Roman Wall.

Day 4: Stratford-upon-Avon
Depart London this morning to visit the amazingly preserved Warwick Castle, with its bygone world of banquets, battles and ceremony. During the summer months, observe archery, falconry and jousting. We then travel through the rolling Warwickshire Hills to Stratford-upon-Avon, a market town at the edge of the Forest of Arden and birthplace of William Shakespeare. Time to see the Tudor-style cottage, with its typical-of-the-time kitchen, bedrooms, and the glove-maker's workshop used by Shakespeare's father. Dinner and overnight in Warwickshire.

Day 5: Stratford - Bath Area
Morning departure from the Stratford area, as we travel to one of the most famous sites in the world, the pre-historic monument of Stonehenge, for a look at the stones and Druid burial grounds. The megalithic ruin consists of a series of earth, timber, and stone structures that were revised and re-modeled over a period of more than 1,400 years. On to Bristol, in the Bath area, for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Bath Area
Guided tour of the city of Bath, with its hot springs, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone cresents. Next, a tour of the Roman Baths, the well-preserved Roman site. The site includes the remains of the Temple of Aquae Sulis, the Roman baths fed by the sacred hot spring, and a well-presented museum of artifacts. Free time to stroll this charming city, shop, or stop to enjoy a cup of tea. Dinner and overnight in the Bath area.

Day 7: Bath - Cotswolds - London
Morning departure from Bath, to visit a fascinating Roman Villa at Chedworth, then on to Cirencester, once an important Roman town where the remains of a once-glorious amphitheatre can be seen. Continue on through the quaint Cotswolds, and see cottages with thatched roofs, sandstone villages, and market towns with crooked half-timbered houses, set in the scenic rolling hills that are so typically English. Arrival in London for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: London - St. Albans
A short journey out of London today to see another of the most important Roman towns, now called St. Albans, with an included visit to the Verulamium Museum.
