Day 1:
Departure Flight.
Day 2: Munich
Arrive Munich, meet your Teach By Travel tour manager, and transfer to your hotel. After an orientation briefing, free time to explore on your own.
Day 3: Munich
Morning guided city sightseeing tour of Munich. Discover the pedestrian streets of the city center and the old Rathaus (City Hall). Climb the stairs above the famous Glockenspiel for fabulous views of the city. Also see the Residenz Palace and the majestic Frauekirche Church.
Day 4: Munich - Salzburg
After breakfast, board your coach bound for the foothills of the Alps to visit the fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein, home of Mad King Ludwig II. Drive along the beautiful Chiemsee and see its castle on the lake (time permitting). Cross the Austrian border and arrive in Mozart's city of Salzburg for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Salzburg
Morning excursion to the Berchtesgaden Salt Mines, where you will experience a ride on a train, a funicular, a raft, and slides! On to Eagle's Nest, a chalet-style building built by the Nazis in the German Alps as a retreat for Hitler. Return to Salzburg for free time - you may want to catch a musical performance in one of the cafes.
Day 6: Innsbruck
Depart Salzburg and travel to the middle of the Tyrol Alps, Innsbruck, with its "Little Golden Roof." Walking tour with your tour manager to see the Old Town, the Hofburg Palace, and more. Free time to enjoy the spectacular scenery before dinner and overnight in Innsbruck.
Day 7: Innsbruck - Lucerne
Board your coach and travel to Liechtenstein and breath-taking Vaduz, capital of Liechtenstein. It is a picturesque, architecturally-stunning town, that has a welcoming atmosphere and a rich history. Time to visit Vaduz before continuing on to Lucerne.
Day 8: Lucerne
Morning walking tour of Lucerne, divided by a river whose banks on both sides are clustered with medieval squares, frescoed houses, ancient guildhalls, churches and chapels. See the famous Lion Monument and the Chapel Bridge, a wooden bridge built in the 14th century. Afternoon free to shop for Swiss watches or explore on your own.
Day 9: Lucerne - Heidelberg
Board your coach, depart Lucerne, and take in the lush vistas of the Black Forest. Have your camera ready for a stop at the impressive Rhine Falls before arriving in Heidelberg.
Day 10: Heidelberg
Morning guided tour of Heidelberg with its magnificent backdrop and narrow, picturesque roads. Stroll the Gothic streets and see the Old Town, Universitatsplatz, the Marktplatz, the Alte Brucke and more, including a visit to the fourteenth-century Heidelberg Castle. Time to explore on your own before dinner and overnight in Heidelberg.
Day 11:
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
