Day 1:
Departure Flight.
Day 2: Munich
Arrive at Munich airport, meet your Teach by Travel tour manager, and transfer to your hotel for check-in. After a briefing from your tour manager, time to explore the surroundings of the Bavarian Capital on your own before dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Munich
Morning guided city sightseeing tour of Munich. Discover the pedestrian streets of the city center and the old Rathaus (City Hall). Climb the stairs above the famous Glockenspiel for fabulous views of the city! Also see the Residenz Palace and the majestic Frauenkirche Church. Afernoon tour to the World War II concentration camp of Dachau. Return to Munich for free time. Lively Hofbrauhaus Dinner with entertainment tonight!
Day 4: Munich - Salzburg
After breakfast, board your coach bound for the foothills of the Alps to visit the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein, home of Mad King Ludwig II. Drive along beauiful Chiemsee and see its castle on the lake. Cross the Austrian border and arrive in Mozart's city of Salzburg for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Salzburg
Salzburg city tour this morning. See the Hohen Salzburg castle overlooking a region of lakes and mountains of the Salzburgland. Excursion to the Berchtesgaden Salt Mines, where dressed in miner's clothing, you will experience a ride on a train, a funicular, a raft and slides! On to Eagle's Nest, a chalet-style building which was built by the Nazis in the German Alps. The Kehlsteinhaus was an official 50th birthday present for Adolf Hitler, meant to be a retreat for Hitler and a place for him to entertain visiting dignitaries. Return to Salzburg for free time - you may want to catch a music performance in one of the cafes.
Day 6: Salzburg - Vienna
View the gorgeous scenery of the Blue Danube, with its beautiful rolling hills and vineyards enroute to Melk Abbey, a spectacular example of Rococo Art. Visit the Abbey and its unique library. Then board your Danube cruise and enjoy the lovely surroundings as you cruise to the Austrian capital of Vienna, the center of the Austrian-Hungarian empire of the Hapsbourg family. Dinner and overnight in Vienna.
Day 7: Vienna
Morning guided city sightseeing tour of Vienna. See the Spanish Riding School, Belvedere Palace, St. Stephen's Cathedral, and Schoenbrunn Palace, an impressive example of Baroque Art. Time to browse the colorful small shops on the pedestrian Kartner Strasse, or have a coffee at Cafe Landmann. Dinner at Prater Amusement Park with its centuries-old ferris wheel.
Day 8: Vienna - Budapest
Morning departure from Vienna. Cross the Hungarian border and see the small castle where the composer Joseph Haydn lived, under the wing of Prince Esterhazy. Continue along the Danube to see the largest Basilica in Hungary, overlooking the Danube. Upon arrival in the Hungarian capital city, guided city tour including the Buda Castle District, the Buda Hill, and Thermal Baths. Dinner and overnight in Budapest.
Day 9: Budapest - Prague
Travel to Prague, the heart of Bohemia. Free time to explore on your own, before dinner and overnight in Prague.
Day 10: Prague
Morning guided city sightseeing tour of Prague. See Hradcany Castle, Wallenstein Palace, St. Vitus's Cathedral, and Wenceslas Square, where Soviet tanks stopped the democratic process in 1968. Free time to stroll the small streets of the city center. Dinner and overnight in Prague.
Day 11:
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
